April 2025 General Meeting-as much fun as a business meeting can be!

Updated: Apr 5

The newly elected BCBA board members invited our membership and community to the first General Meeting in four years this past Tuesday evening (April Fool's Day-no fooling), and we were so happy to see so many members show up to hear some good news from our two guest speakers, Deputy David Madison and BCBA member Colly Gruczelak representing Damian's Ladder, as well as a brief state of the BCBA update from our President, Justin Acton (Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub).

Deputy Madison shared information about local community policing efforts, informed business owners who had trespass concerns and directed folks to fill out and lodge a Trespass Letter with the Sheriff's Records Division. The next speaker and BCBA member Colly Gruczelak, founder of Damian's Ladder, charmed and astounded us all with her vision and drive to provide services to low income seniors in Santa Cruz County at no cost. She wasn't looking for donations, she was looking for a few good folks to volunteer to provide 'handyman' services to seniors and disabled folks in the San Lorenzo Valley as fully vetted members of the Damian's Ladder organization, which she founded to honor the memory of SLV local community member, Damian Lanctot. If you have the skills and a little bit of time to offer, please contact Damian's Ladder at damiansladder.org

Our esteemed BCBA President Justin Acton sent them off with true BC gifts of appreciation and gave a brief update on the efforts of the new board, which included thanks to an amazing anonymous BCBA member's donation of 70 hours to handle unfinished board business.

We all extend an open invitation to BCBA members and our community to attend the Member Mixer co-hosted by Lone Wolf Kenpo Academy and Sunderland Tree Service on Wednesday, April 30th, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Lone Wolf, 13089 CA-9. Boulder Creek casual attire only, best town pajamas wins a prize. Fancy snacks and beverages provided.

Thank you to the I.O.O.F for providing our meeting space, and all of our merchant members and community volunteers for hanging in there, we hope to see you all soon!
